Civil Rights Attorney Daryl Parks Statement In Reaction To Georgia Apalachee High School Shooting

TALLAHASSEE, FL – Today, the Daryl Parks campaign released the following statement in reaction to a school shooting at Apalachee High School in Georgia.

“My heart goes out to the entire Winder, Georgia community, particularly the families who are learning today that a loved one has been lost to another senseless act of gun violence. This news is particularly harrowing because the shooter is reported to have been a child themself. No parent should have to worry if their child will come home alive when they send them off to school each morning. Unfortunately, this has become the sad reality we find ourselves in as a nation, but we can and must do better. I’m committed to fighting for a commonsense approach to gun violence that protects our children, so that no more families have to endure this kind of heartbreak.”

Parks has been a community leader, advocate, and outspoken voice for change for nearly 30 years. As a State Senator, Parks will prioritize fighting to lower costs for hardworking families, expanding access to quality affordable healthcare, ensuring women can make their own healthcare decisions and reversing the impacts of extreme policies that have prioritized culture wars ahead of the everyday needs and rising costs that are squeezing working families.
