New Polling Data Shows Daryl Parks’ Surging and Tied With Simon

TALLAHASSEE, FL – Today, the Daryl Parks campaign released new polling data highlighting a clear path to victory against incumbent Corey Simon. With less than 90 days left until Election Day, the poll found a tied race at 45% with Parks gaining ground after being down 8 points in June. The poll found 10% of voters were undecided.

“Republican Senator Corey Simon has a weak personal image and is now tied with Democrat Daryl Parks, in this Biden +3 seat,” said a memo from Impact Research, which conducted the poll. “With the required funds to continue communicating an Independent-minded frame, Daryl Parks has proven he can win this seat and break the Republican supermajority this November.”

The poll also found despite a tied race, Parks has more room to introduce himself to voters with a name ID of 43%. Parks’ momentum comes as Simon spends heavily on attack ads that are falling flat with voters. Simon is struggling to shake his record of prioritizing culture wars and defunding public schools instead of policies that would help hardworking families keep more of the money they earn as housing and healthcare costs skyrocket.

“Given Corey Simon’s growing baggage, the pro-Democratic atmospherics, and Daryl Parks’ profile, this is a must-play and must-watch seat this year,” the memo reads. “With the necessary resources to communicate on broadcast TV, Democrat Daryl Parks can win this seat – which would be a marquee win for Florida Democrats in 2024.”

You can read the full polling memo attached. The poll was conducted August 1st – 8th among 450 likely voters.

Since announcing his campaign for State Senate in April, Parks has raised more than $800,000, including significantly outraising Simon in July with $140,853 raised compared to Simon’s $51,950. More than a third of Simon’s July funds came from insurance companies and their allies, adding to the more than $400,000 Simon has collected from the insurance industry.

“The polling reflects what I’m seeing and hearing from voters everyday on the campaign trail – Corey Simon has failed to stand up for hardworking families and sold them out to insurance companies and their allies as housing and healthcare costs rise significantly,” said Parks. “North Florida families want representation that is accountable to them, not special interests, and they want an experienced leader with the courage to say it’s time to stop putting culture wars ahead of the needs of working families and our children’s future. Voters want policies that allow them to keep more of the money they earn in their pockets and Corey Simon has consistently stood in the way.”

Parks has been a community leader, advocate, and outspoken voice for change for nearly 30 years. As a State Senator, Parks will prioritize fighting to lower costs for hardworking families, expanding access to quality affordable healthcare, ensuring women can make their own healthcare decisions and reversing the impacts of extreme policies supported by Simon that have prioritized culture wars ahead of the everyday needs and rising costs that are squeezing working families.
