Daryl Parks Statement On Primary Election Results, General Election Campaign
Parks Is Well Positioned To Defeat Corey Simon Having Raised Over $800K While Simon Continues To Rake In Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars From Insurance Companies and Their Allies
TALLAHASSEE, FL – Today, prominent civil rights attorney Daryl Parks released the following statement in reaction to the Democratic primary election results.
“I’m grateful for the support our campaign has received and I’m ready to defeat Corey Simon in November. Our campaign is well positioned for victory because voters are ready for change and a State Senator with the courage and experience to speak up for them and ensure they can keep more of the money they earn in their pockets. Corey Simon has failed the people by taking hundreds of thousands of dollars from insurance companies and their allies while housing and healthcare costs skyrocket across North Florida. He’s passed legislation to defund our public schools by $900 million and wants to prioritize culture wars ahead of the everyday needs of North Florida. We deserve better and I’m ready to put my lifetime of experience fighting and winning against special interests to work for every family in our district.”
Since announcing his campaign for State Senate in April, Parks has raised more than $800,000, including significantly outraising Simon in July with $140,853 raised compared to Simon’s $51,950. More than a third of Simon’s July funds came from insurance companies and their allies, adding to the more than $400,000 Simon has collected from the insurance industry.
Parks has been a community leader, advocate, and outspoken voice for change for nearly 30 years. As a State Senator, Parks will prioritize fighting to lower costs for hardworking families, expanding access to quality affordable healthcare, ensuring women can make their own healthcare decisions and reversing the impacts of extreme policies supported by Simon that have prioritized culture wars ahead of the everyday needs and rising costs that are squeezing working families.
