Public Safety
Keeping our communities safe from gun violence begins with accountability – and our communities deserve common-sense leaders who will tackle the underlying causes of violent crime while protecting our constitutional rights.
Growing up in a rural community, I had the opportunity to receive firearm and gun safety training as a Boy Scout from certified instructors. It’s how I first earned my concealed carry permit. I know firsthand – firearm safety training saves lives.
Politicians like Corey Simon are putting North Florida families at risk with reckless permitless carry laws that allow anyone, including violent criminals, to carry hidden, loaded guns in public with no background checks, training, or permits.
My solution is common sense. In the Florida Senate, I will advocate for reasonable requirements that ensure responsible gun owners can protect their families and that our communities remain safe from dangerous drugs and violent crime.
Early intervention and prevention are essential to breaking the cycle of violence in our communities. As your State Senator, I will work to expand access to mental health care services throughout North Florida and make sure law enforcement agencies have the resources they need to be trained for and respond to mental health crises.
